Bali Favored With Surplus In Trade With China.
Denpasar, Bali, Oct 17 ( Berita ) : The provincial branch of the Central Bureau of Statistics in Bali recorded a surplus of US$12.2 million in Bali's trade with China including Hong Kong in the first 8 months of this year.
"Business partners in Hong Kong imports various types of ornaments, knitted fabrics, and other non-oil commodities from Bali," Ni Made Kusuma Dewi, an exporter said here on Monday.
The increase in exports followed an improvement in the economic condition of China including Hong Kong, from which the number of tourists has increased visiting Bali.
Separately, head of the Bali branch of BPS Adi Nugroho said Bali's exports to China including Hong Kong were valued at US$30.7 million in first 8 months of this year as against imports from that country of US$18.5 million in the same period.
Exports commodities to China-Hong Kong included sea fishes, wooden carved products, ornaments and Bali-made jewelry were valued at around US$3.8 million per month.
The trade surplus followed an increase in exports from US$13.5 million in the first 8 months of 2015 to US$30.7 million in the same period this year. Meanwhile imports shrank from US$25.1 million to US$18.5 million in the same period.
Kusuma Dewi Hong Kong imports silver ornaments including rings, ear stud, necklace and brooch to be sold to tourists in that country. Imports from China and Hong Kong fell in the first 8 months of this year on dollar appreciation against rupiah and global economic slump.
Imported commodities from China and Hong Kong include textiles, cellular phones, machinery and capital goods . Kusuma Dewi said Bali's exports to China and Hong Kong have remained quite strong with growing demand ahead of Christmas and New Year 2017 . (ant )
