Abstract
Keywords: Construction Media Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) in the 2004 election to figure the most in talking about, since its emergence as a presidential candidate a surprise as well as causing controversy from various parties, especially his boss President Megawati. Because at that time still serving as SBY Cabinet Menkopolkam in Mutual-cooperation, and then be nominated as presidential candidate of the Democratic Party. Apart from the controversy his candidacy, SBY was mentioned as a strong candidate to become president. This is demonstrated through the election of Yudhoyono was elected president for 2004-2009. The election of SBY as president, of course, is inseparable from the role of the media that informed about her good news surrounding the campaign and personally SBY figure. Media construction of reality about SBY especially ahead of presidential and vice presidential election July 5, 2004, would be interpreted and constructed in a different perspective. Therefore, researchers interested in studying construction of SBY more specific media on print media. In this context as an object of research is the newspaper Kompas and Pos Java (JP). With the aim to obtain a picture of the two media in constructing reality about Yudhoyono ahead of presidential and vice presidential election July 5, 2004. The mass media as a means to retell a reality, not apart from the process of constructing a reality. Because the process is the nature and the fact that media work is a telling of events, the main activity is the mass media construct reality to be conveyed to the public. Making news in the media is basically the preparation of the realities to form a story or meaningful discourse. Thus the entire contents of the media no other is a constructed reality (constructed reality) in the form of meaningful discourse. In research studies, researchers are faced with two paradigms of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Both the research methodology paradigms have advantages and disadvantages of each. However, based on background in this study refers to the paradigm kualitaitif.Yaitu research methodology of this study was descriptive qualitative framing analysis method of Pan and Kosicki. The selection model of Pan and Kosicki framing analysis is based on the consideration that the method of Pan and Kosicki more precise and more detail in analyzing each part of the contents of news. Ie by dividing the structure into four structural framing empirical analysis and operation, namely the syntactic structure, the structure of the script, thematic structure and rhetorical structure. Research shows that each of the media in this newspaper Kompas and JP have a different construction in preaching Yudhoyono ahead of presidential and vice presidential election July 5, 2004. Frame Compass against SBY SBY tend to be impartial, it is evident through the choice of syntactic structure, script structure, thematic structure, and rhetorical structure. SBY is described in plain or neutral, both in his capacity as a presidential candidate or personally. Unlike the frame JP in framing news about SBY, through the choice of syntactic elements, thematic, script mainly rhetorical elements leads to the formation of a positive image. In the frame JP, SBY is described as a figure of candidates with excellent qualifications. With firmness, courage, and especially in the face kesimpatikannya Kudatuli issues that are considered a tool to trip him toward the presidency
