Teen reluctant to go on trip drowns in car mishap.

A TEENAGER drowned after the car she was in overturned and plunged into the Pahang river near Kampung Berhala Kapas, reported Berita Harian.

Rahmah Fatihah, 19, was in the car with her family on their way from Johor heading for Mentakab.

When the accident occurred, her father Suradi Asmo said the other members of the family escaped through the broken rear window of the car.

Suradi said that he tried hard to hold on to Rahmah, but he could not maintain his grip and the strong currents swept her away.

Rahmah was a top student in SMK Hassan Yunos, Johor.

She had initially declined to follow the family on the trip, saying she wanted to finish her schoolwork.

However, her family persuaded her to follow because they did not want her to stay at home alone.

The 21-year-old was walking alone in Taman Bunga Raya, Setapak, when she was attacked. She managed to bite his hand, freeing herself from his grasp.

Passers-by who witnessed the crime tried to catch the suspect but he managed to escape.

"I injured my mouth and hands when I tried to fight him off," said the student who lodged a police report at the Wangsa Maju police station.

The paper claimed two other students from the same college were also assaulted in the same area.

Maran OCPD Deputy Supt Mat Rizal Mat Radzi said police found fake money worth RM2,390.

Other materials seized included printers, A4 papers, ink and the silver strips for the money.

Investigations showed the two suspects had criminal records.
